This baby is born in the Northeastern town of El Senbellawein in Egypt, having only one lidless eye and no nose.
A baby is suffering from cyclopia, a congenital disorder characterized by the failure of the embryonic forebrain to divide the orbits of the eye into two cavities. An unusual birth defect is named after the mythological giants with a single large eye in the middle of their foreheads.
Cyclopia is one of the rarest forms of birth defects and children born with this condition often die shortly after birth.
Its incidence is 1 in 16,000 in born animals and 1 in 250 in embryos. The boy is now treated at hospital, where his parents are receiving counseling.
The single eye, and missing nose, is a result of the boy's eye sockets not forming correctly in the womb.
Most babies with this disorder do not survive as they often have other severe defects, including seriously malformed hearts.
According to the doctors, the baby’s such deformity may be due to the effect of radiation and some medications taken by the mother during pregnancy. Unfortunately, the baby can never last for a few days because of some other deformities that are not compatible with life.
Unfortunately, the boy is not expected to survive more than a few days.
